Band add a keyboard wizzard to lineup

After working towards gigs this year, there has been another change in the band, this time Chris Kelly departed and Russ Butt has taken up a spot in the lineup.

Russ is a highly experienced keyboard player who has featured in a number of respected bands. The sounds of Electric Piano and Organ adds a huge range to add to to the bands sound, and will allow us to expand on the types of songs we can play, many of which will be added to the set list over the coming months.

We welcome Russ to the band, we are having great fun and he played live with us at the second appearence we had at the Uncle Sams BBQ event.

Bourbon Shot are now playing at a whole new level! Another bonus is that Russ likes curry!

Bourbon Shot back to Full Strength!

After extensive auditions, Bourbon Shot are pleased to announce that it is back up to full strength with two new axe men!

Chris Kelly and Chris Youngs have been rehearsing with the band in readiness for what looks to be a promising year for the band.

Chris Kelly (Two Chris’s so no confusion then!) has extensive experience playing all genres of music and has been attracted to having an outlet to play more modern Southern Rock Tunes. Meanwhile Chris Youngs is well known in Essex having already played the genre in his previous band, Lucky 7. Both are excellent guitarists, keen as mustard and been busy learning the set. In addition they have brought some great ideas to expand the set in order to make our set more accessible for the casual customer at our pub gigs, but still retaining the Southern Rock Core with the addition of Heartland Rock, Texas Boogie and Country Rock numbers, which people might just recognise!

Biographies for the guys will be on ‘The Band’ page soon. We also have been busy in the studio recording a few demo’s of tracks including the new boys, which we will add to the site when they have been mixed.

We will also have news of some great up and coming gigs which will be posted here soon. Don’t forget, you can also follow us on our Facebook Page!

Bourbon Shot regroup After Short Hiatus

Bourbon Shot auditions after losing both our guitarists!

Sadly we had to say goodbye you our brother in rock Stephen Sparshot, who had planned for years to move to Scotland. The time came and he and his lovely lady Katherine ‘upped sticks’ and emigrated to Lamlash on the Isle of Arran.

We wish them all the best and already we are planning our visits to this lovely part of the world. Steve leaves some big shoes to fill. As our musical director, he created all the arrangements of the songs. Music played in other bands using up to three or more guitars and a keyboard player is arranged to be played by just two guitars in Bourbon Shot. As anyone came to see us will attest, this is a remarkable feat! Any guitarist coming into replace him will certainly have to have some serious game.

We are not sure who he is going to play with in Lamlash, but rumours have it that he is learning the bagpipes! We have also recently seen some pictures of him dressed as a viking, so God only knows what he is getting up to now!

Almost as soon as Stevie went, Keith King, who had also had some challenging family issues to overcome, got a new job. This meant he spent a lot of time commuting to Europe. Sadly he came to the conclusion that he could not spare the time, so with a heavy heart we said out farewells. We are still in contact, and if he ever wanted to share the stage with us again, he is always welcome to join the Bourbon Shot family. We will miss his cheeky grin, his musical prowess and his all around being a thoroughly nice chap.

The hunt was afoot for not one, but two guitarists. Finding one would be tough, but two?

I can reveal that we spent a good few months auditioning and trying out guitarists. We have finally selected two guys to fill the most demanding spots on the covers circuit! We are now booked into rehearsal studios and getting the newbies up to speed on the set list. When the new recruits are settled in and happy the plan is to then make the official announcement and reveal who they are! We are hoping to be up and running ready to gig in a few months, so keep watching this space for more updates.

New Bourbon Shot Website

Hi Boys & Girls. Due to the difficulty in updating the old website, we have decided to swap over to WordPress, which makes it easier for various members of the band to add things without having to be website experts!

It will take a little while to get things sorted and get the content on, but you should see that it will be more current with the latest news, videos, pics and gig dates from your favourite Southern Rockers.

The bands ‘Music’ page is just about complete, The contact us / book us page is also complete. Next for updating will be the Bands Bio Page and Adam will be uploading a load of media files for the pics and video’s pages.. It will keep us out of trouble for the weekend and in the doghouse with our partners!

We should have everything looking damn fine and swamp ready inĀ over the next few days.
